School maturity and postponement of school attendance and speech disorders

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of school maturity, the communication level of preschool children and the postponement of school attendance from the point of view of speech therapy and school counseling facilities. The theoretical part contains three chapters devoted to topics necessary for defining the qualification work. The content of the first chapter is an introduction to the theoretical framework of communication and child development from birth to preschool age with a primary focus on speech development. The second chapter defines impaired communication ability from the general basis to the specifics of communication of children in preschool and younger school age. The third chapter analyzes the support of preschool children's communication skills, the area of school readiness with the examination of school maturity in a pedagogical-psychological counseling center and postponement of school attendance. In the practical part, the methodology of qualitative research and the research investigation itself are presented. From a methodological point of view, we worked with the analysis of data obtained through semi-structured interviews with a clinical speech therapist, a child psychologist and a special pedagogue from a pedagogical-psychological consultancy. Speech therapy prevention for the natural development of pre-school children

The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of (not) using the offer of speech therapy prevention by parents of children with impaired communication skills. The theoretical part defines basic concepts such as speech therapy, speech therapy, impaired communication ability, speech development (risks that may manifest in speech development) and articulation. It relies on available professional sources in the field of speech therapy. The practical part is carried out using the method of qualitative research and contains semi-structured interviews with parents. The main goal is to find out the answer to the research question: "How active is the interest on the part of parents and what is the main reason for parents to seek professional help?" Specifically, it is a research in a kindergarten in South Bohemia.
The ontogenesis of children's speech

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the ontogenesis of children's speech. The theoretical part of the work aims to give a comprehensive overview of the acquisition of speech. It presents historically different concepts of language acquisition and describes development phases according to Ohnesorg and Lejsek. In my exam I focus on the occurrence of NKS (communication disorder) in pre-school aged children. I am interested in speech disorders that commonly occur in this age group. Individual disorders describe - how they express themselves and what the individual impact is on the child, whether the child is aware of this disorder and how. Furthermore, I will focus on speech therapy intervention, focus on the way how these children are being treated in nursery schools. Whether the schools have their own speech therapist or if the teachers leave the responsibility of treating this disorder simply to the parents. It also analyze the situation in the first half year of the first class of the primary school. Whether NKS (communication disorder) has the same occurrence or a decrease is rather noticeable.
Role of speech therapist in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders

The thesis titled Role of speech therapist in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders characterizes the role of speech therapy intervention as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team taking care of a patient with a neurological diagnosis in the process of comprehensive rehabilitation care. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on professional literature, it defines the terminology related to communication and communication disability in general, then it focuses on neurological diseases and patients with neurogenic communication disorder. The main part is focused on speech therapy intervention in the process of comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with neurological diseases. The practical part of the thesis presents results of a survey, carried out on neurological departments of hospitals in the Czech Republic in October 2016 to obtain information on whether and how the speech therapy intervention is provided at neurological departments in hospitals in the Czech Republic. Speech therapy intervention in Czech-English kindergartens

The bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of speech therapy intervention in Czech- English kindergartens. The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to formulate some speech therapy recommendations for pedagogical practice in bilingual kindergartens. The work deals with speech therapy intervention in Czech-English kindergartens in the broader theoretical context of the development of speech of a preschool child and its characteristics, the issue of impaired communication skills that occurs in preschool children, and of course bilingualism and speech development of a bilingual child. The research and practical part of the work is based on a qualitative research method using a semi-structured interview with the principals of two Czech-English kindergartens, who provided relevant information on how speech therapy intervention and language teaching takes place in their kindergartens. The bachelor thesis results in formulation of seven speech therapy recommendations for pedagogical practice in bilingual kindergartens.
Development of perceptual skills of the pupil with developmental dysphasia

This thesis deals with development of perceptual skills of the pupil with developmental dysphasia during younger school age. This thesis is divided in two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part includes three parts which characterize the whole concept of this problems. The first chapter deals with human speech development. The second chapter includes speech disorders , describes individual parts of speech disorders. The third chapter defines the developmental dysphasia and its terminology, etiology, symptoms and prognosis. It also describes diagnostic methods of the developmental dysphasia and follow-up therapy. The practical part contains a research survey based on efficiency own exercises set oriented on the visual and hearing perception by the younger school learners with developmental dysphasia. The research part contains research schedule, describes survey sample and research methods. At the end of the chapter the results of survey were summarized.
